This week I spent a total of $78.24, but thanks to two gift cards that number dropped to $67.78. This week I also did some couponing for personal care items that I was excited about. I don’t often use coupons because when you’re buying whole food items, there aren’t often coupons offered. But for items like shampoo and laundry detergent, there’s always something out there. However, just because there’s a coupon, doesn’t mean that it’s the best deal. Many times the store brand is still cheaper than the name brand with a coupon.
Favorite purchases of the week:
- Ground Turkey – $7.00/3lb @ Mariano’s; $2.33/lb; used in place of all ground beef – tacos, burgers, and chili.
- Cauliflower – $2.00 each @ Mariano’s; the “carnival” cauliflower was on sale for $2.00 each where the regular stuff was $1.29/lb; I bought the largest head possible!
- Avocados – $3.49/4ct bag @ Trader Joe’s; $.87 each; this summer the price had gone up, so I was happy to see this number again!
- Himalayan Sea Salt – $4.99/17.5oz jar @ TJ Maxx; since I had a gift card and was running out of my salt, I checked out TJ Maxx’s pantry aisle and came home successful! They often have specialty items like olive oil, coconut oil, and pure maple syrup.
