As someone who would rather save my pennies than spend them, I often find myself struggling to treat myself. $100 for a haircut? $25 for a manicure? It all adds up rather quickly.
But even the most frugal of ladies deserves a spa day. So instead of always saying no, I’ve found some middle ground with my inner beauty queen and have learned how to truly treat myself at home with AVEENO® products from Walmart.
10 Tips for a Relaxing At-Home Spa Day
1. Schedule your me time.
If you struggle with feeling guilty for doing something that’s just for you, try scheduling your me time into your calendar. That way you know ahead of time that it’s coming and can more easily relax.
2. Turn your phone off.
As you begin your at-home spa day, put your phone away. Text. Calls. Emails. Facebook. Instagram. And more! There are so many distractions that come from our phones. So put it away for the next hour and truly focus on yourself.
3. Set the mood in your bathroom.
What do you think of when you think of a spa? Dim lights, soothing music, calming scents. Recreate this atmosphere by turning off the lights in your bathroom, lighting a candle, and turning on some easy listenin’ tunes.
4. Make things steamy.
Now that you’ve got the atmosphere set, it’s time to get things heated up. At the beginning of your spa time, turn your shower as hot as it will go and shut your bathroom door for about 20 minutes. This will create a makeshift sauna for you to enjoy.
5. Apply a face and hair mask.
While your bathroom gets steamy, start some face and hair treatments. My personal favorite is to simply rub coconut or olive oil through my hair and let it sit for 10-20 minutes. For your face, honey and milk work great!
6. Rinse and wash.
Once your time is up on your hair mask, you can hop in the shower and rinse off. The steam that’s been building in your bathroom will help open your pores and hydrate both your skin and hair.
