It’s finally Friday! You’re so excited for this weekend and can’t wait for the clock to strike 5 because you’ve got Happy Hour with your ladies to get to! But what are you going to drink? For me, if I’m not in the mood for some Cab, I go for my one and only Crispin Hard Cider. Many people enjoy hard ciders because they are a sweet alternative to beer and are also typically gluten free. For me, I enjoy them for their crisp, refreshing, fizzy taste. It’s like a party in my mouth before the party even gets started!
So why do I love Crispin so dang much? Well let me tell you. I’ve tried my fair share of hard ciders and Crispin stands out amongst its competitors for many reasons.
As someone who focuses on eating whole, unprocessed food, I also like to keep my drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) clean, too. Although Crispin does contain a few ingredients I’m not so sure about (what the heck is natural apple essence?), I’m happy to see that this company has actually taken the time to share right on its bottles what its beverage is made from. Listing ingredients currently isn’t required by alcohol manufacturers, so the fact that Crispin has decided to be transparent means to me that they care about the quality of their product.
Crispin also just so happens to be one of the lowest calorie ciders out there. I believe this is mainly due to the fact they there is no added sugar (which many other ciders have), making their total sugar content less than half of some of the other brands. This also makes this beverage only slightly sweet, but not overwhelming. At this point if I drink Angry Orchard, the sweetness is almost too much for me and I can only handle one.
The Original flavor of Crispin is what you’re going to find on store shelves most often, but they do sell plenty of other options. If you want a real treat, try the Brut (yes, like champagne). Brut means dry, which makes this variety have just a hint of sweetness. Other kinds to keep your eye out for include Pacific Pear, Blackberry Pear, Honey Crisp and The Saint, just to name a few.
